A Gold Open Access journal by ELSEVIER and SERDI PUBLISHER

The Journal of Frailty & Aging (JFA) is a fully digital, gold open-access, peer-reviewed international journal dedicated to advancing research in aging and age-related (sub)clinical conditions. The journal focuses on publishing high-quality articles that explore the social, biological, and clinical factors underlying the onset and progression of frailty in older adults.

JFA is organized into five distinct sections:

1. Biology of Frailty and Aging
This section features reports from preclinical studies and research aimed at identifying, describing, and understanding the subclinical pathophysiological mechanisms underlying frailty and aging.

2. Physical Frailty and Age-Related Body Composition Modifications
Articles in this section examine the physical and functional aspects of frailty, with particular attention to body composition, which plays a critical role in physical frailty and serves as a hallmark of aging. Studies on sarcopenia and obesity in older adults are especially welcome.

3. Neurosciences of Frailty and Aging
This section highlights research on the cognitive and neurological dimensions of frailty and age-related conditions, with a special emphasis on neurodegenerative disorders affecting older populations.

4. Frailty and Aging in Clinical Practice and Public Health
Dedicated to clinical and multidisciplinary perspectives, this section includes studies addressing the diverse manifestations of frailty and aging in advanced age. It also covers social and public health issues related to these conditions, offering valuable insights from clinicians across various specialties.

5. Clinical Trials and Therapeutics
This section includes manuscripts presenting data on pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions designed to prevent, delay, or treat frailty and age-related conditions.

The Journal of Frailty & Aging welcomes a range of submissions, including original research papers, review articles, case reports, controversies, letters to the Editor, and book reviews. Manuscripts are evaluated by the editorial team and, if suitable, undergo peer review by expert reviewers selected by the editors. JFA particularly encourages contributions from researchers and clinicians with diverse backgrounds and specialties, fostering a multidisciplinary approach to the themes of frailty and aging.

The Journal of Frailty & Aging is indexed in MEDLINE, ESCI (Web of Science), and Scopus.
