Proposition d'un cadre d'analyse des pratiques professionnelles des équipes de soutien et conseil en soins palliatifs au domicile - 28/02/08
Proposition for an analysis scheme for professional practices among healthcare teams providing supportive and counseling for home palliative care patients |
Introduction . Palliative care has become a national policy whose development requires evaluation. We present an analysis scheme designed for healthcare teams providing supportive and counseling for home palliative care patients. The purpose of the scheme is to facilitate evaluation and contribute to the decision-making process concerning healthcare policy.
Material and methods . The scheme was designed on the basis of research results and the knowledge and clinical experience of a small team of researchers and practitioners specialized in healthcare evaluation. The work involved two steps: systematic analysis the elaboration of a data collection grid. We used the feedback approach to design a comprehensive scheme of evaluation.
Results . The analysis scheme has two parts. The first part exposes the different working levels based on team objectives and a model of palliative care. The work of each team was identified within the local and general context and for end-of-life situations. The precise role of each team was described and possible interventions proposed. The second part is a data collection grid for a general description, certain sentinel events, self-evaluation, and a strategic analysis.
Discussion . This analysis scheme focuses on the evaluation of procedures and healthcare means. It should be validated by an institution working in the area of palliative care.
