There is strong suspicion among clinicians that reflux of stomach or upper intestinal substances (bile, pepsin, acid) leads to cancer in the areas exposed to or bathed by these materials. This review, although not conclusive, attempts to gather the available evidence for this theory. The topics included in this discussion include esophagus, larynx, and lung. Further research will be required before firm conclusions can be reached on these topics.
