Diagnosis effectiveness of arrhythmia with R-test electrocardiogram in old fallers - 08/10/11
Abstract |
The use of R-tests (event recorders) in the geriatric falls clinic was investigated in 207 patients. The results showed that 34% of the patients either needed regulation of their anti-arrythmic medicine or to start treatment with a new anti-arrythmic drug. A percentage of 16.4 of the patients needed to be seen by a cardiologist, and 2% of the patients received a pacemaker. Further 1% were offered a pacemaker but rejected. The R-test is easy to use, and it is well tolerated by the patients. The registration period should be at least 5–7 days though when the aim is revealing some of the seldom and from time to time invalidating arrythmias in the elderly.
