| Commentary The importance of ameboma rests in its potential confusion with neoplasia, including carcinoma and lymphoma. In today's shrinking world where so many travelers arrive daily in areas in which amebiasis may not be a familiar entity, ameboma is an important consideration—especially when a cecal mass is found in a patient with a history of diarrhea.
