Voir les affiliationsThis month, let us have a look at the world challenges facing midwives as a profession in the future. To do so, let’s read the following editorial written by Denise Tiran, which focuses on the 29th Triennial Congress of the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), which is to take place in June 2011 in Durban, South Africa. This global view on the midwifery underscores the strong connections which exist between economic development, welfare, women’s rights and midwives’crucial role to accompany childbearing as safely and naturally as possible. Besides, the metaphors and parallels used in this guest editorial are meant to be as powerful as evocative as regards what is at stake for midwives and women worldwide.
