Les animaux de rente comme les animaux de compagnie et de loisirs constituent des cibles potentielles du bioterrorisme. Ils vivent dans l’intimité de l’homme et peuvent constituer un relais pour des agents de zoonoses, mais sont aussi des cibles potentielles, en tant que ressources économiques et origine de la chaîne de production d’aliments. Deux catégories de germes peuvent donc être identifiées comme agents de bioterrorisme interférant avec la santé animale : les bactéries et virus responsables de zoonoses, communs aux agents de bioterrorisme ciblant l’homme et qui constituent la majorité des agents de bioterrorisme, et les agents responsables de maladies spécifiquement animales, beaucoup moins nombreux. Pets and livestock constitute potential targets of the bioterrorism. They live in the intimacy of the human and can constitute a relay for zoonoses agents. Livestock are also potential targets, as economic resources and origin of the food line production. Two categories of germs can thus be identified like agents of bioterrorism interfering with animal health: bacteria and viruses responsible for zoonoses, identical to the agents of bioterrorism targeting the man and which constitute the majority of the agents of bioterrorism, and the agents responsible for specifically animal diseases, much fewer.
