Abstract |
The rapid spread of multidrug resistant bacterial strains limits the effectiveness of antibiotic treatments and induces intense research for alternatives. Today, the use of phage preparations as alternative approach is gaining attention, particularly for treating a wide variety of diseases which are difficult to control by chemotherapeutic agents. This article relates the phage therapy experience of the Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology.

La dissémination rapide des souches bactériennes multirésistantes limite l’efficacité des antibiotiques nous amenant à rechercher d’autres solutions. Aujourd’hui, l’utilisation des bactériophages est à nouveau considérée avec intérêt, en particulier pour le traitement d’une grande variété de maladies pour lesquelles l’utilisation de la chimiothérapie est difficile. Cet article retrace l’expérience de phagothérapie de l’« Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology ».
