Abstract |
Considering the influence of artistic style is a key methodological step in the iconodiagnostic process in order to avoid some pitfalls. The two present artworks, depicting Saint Jerome, attributed respectively to the 17th-century Neapolitan school and to Valentin de Boulogne, French painter of the 17th century, highlight how the interplay of light and shadow can enhance and disguise a possible pectus excvatum.
