Les inégalités sociales de santé comprennent l’ensemble des impacts provoqués par les différentes caractéristiques sociales des individus concernant leur santé. Elles marquent fortement l’état de santé de la population française. La catégorie socioprofessionnelle, le genre, l’origine ethnique sont autant de facteurs déterminants pour la santé des personnes qui, pourtant, ne dépendent pas du système de santé. Les actions dans le champ sanitaire se porteront donc sur les effets de ces inégalités pour limiter le renoncement aux soins ou favoriser la promotion de la santé collective et individuelle.

Social inequalities in health include all the impacts caused by the different social characteristics of individuals on their health. They strongly influence the health status of the French population. Socio-professional category, gender and ethnic origin are all determining factors in the health of people who, however, are not dependent on the healthcare system. Action in the healthcare field will therefore focus on the effects of these inequalities, to limit the number of people who forego healthcare, and to promote collective and individual health.
