Nous rapportons une observation de ostéoarthrite à Yersinia enterocolitica avec mise en évidence du germe dans l'articulation. Un homme de 67 ans, aux antécédents de cardiopathie valvulaire, est hospitalisé pour douleur et limitation des mobilités de hanche gauche, dans un contexte fébrile. La ponction articulaire étant stérile, une arthrotomie est réalisée qui permet d'identifier Yersinia enterocolitica dans le liquide articulaire. Toutes les explorations digestives sont normales et une endocardite est écartée. Après 6 semaines d'antibiothérapie adaptée et d'immobilisation avec traction trans-tibiale, l'évolution clinique et biologique est favorable dans un premier temps. Mais le patient décède d'une pathologie intercurrente. Plus volontiers responsable d'arthrite réactionnelle, Yersinia enterocolitica peut exceptionnellement être responsable d'une authentique arthrite septique.

We report a case of bacteriologically documented hip infection caused by Yersinia enterocolitica. A 67-year-old male with a history of valvular disease was admitted for pain and motion range limitation in the left hip with a fever. No organisms were recovered by needle aspiration, but Yersinia enterocolitica grew in joint fluid obtained by surgical arthrotomy. Investigations of the gastrointestinal tract were normal, and there was no evidence of endocarditis. After 6 weeks of appropriate antibiotic therapy and immobilization with transtibial traction, the clinical and laboratory test abnormalities improved. However, the patient died from an intercurrent condition. Y. enterocolitica, a well-known cause of reactive arthritis, can cause septic arthritis.
