Impact of systolic blood pressure at admission in NSTE-ACS: 5-year outcome - 31/12/22
Résumé |
Introduction |
In patients with non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS), the role of admission systolic blood pressure (SBP) on outcomes remains inconclusive.
Objective |
This study aimed to investigate the association between admission SBP and long-term outcomes in patients hospitalized for NSTE-ACS.
Method |
Patients admitted for NSTE-ACS and indication for coronary angiography were prospectively evaluated. Patients were divided into two groups according to their SBP whether SBP≥140mmHg vs. SBP<140mmHg. Major outcomes were assessed at five years.
Data were analyzed using SPSS software 23.
Results |
A total of 274 patients were evaluated: mean age was 62±12years, 58.8% was male and 54.7% had history of hypertension. The five-year mortality was 18.6% (51 patients) and the five-year MACCE was 35.0% (96 patients). The SBP≥140mmHg group included 122 patients (44.5%). The five-year MACCE occurrence in the patients of SBP≥140mmHg was significantly higher (43.4% vs. 28.3%; P=0.011) (Fig. 1) but there were no significant differences between the two groups in term of five-year all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.
Conclusion |
High admission systolic BP was associated with increased five-year MACCE occurrence.
