Objective |
The current study aims to study the isolation and prevalence of uropathogenic E. coli in different breed, sex, and age of dogs.
Material and methods |
One hundred and three urine samples were screened using culture and biochemical test.
Results |
Out of the 103 samples examine, 25 (24.3%) were found positive for E. coli. The highest prevalence of E. coli was recorded in German Shepherd (9.71%). Maximum occurrence of E. coli was found in dogs between the age of above 3–6 years (10.68%) and the female dogs (13.59%) have higher prevalence than the male dogs (10.68%).
Conclusion |
Cultural isolation of Uropathogenic E. coli was performed in the current study and confirmed using biochemical kits. Uropathogenic E. coli were isolated more in German Shepherd dogs, female dogs and older dogs in the current study.
