Following a post on PubPeer, regarding Figures 1, 2, and 4 as detailed here (?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpubpeer.com%2Fpublications%2FE4AE24E575A9AA8226FF820FB81041%231&data=05%7C02%7Ca.fraser%40elsevier.com%7C580f16f9a69c4960c94a08dcab286467%7C9274ee3f94254109a27f9fb15c10675d%7C0%7C0%7C638573437257721093%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&sdata=RyKblvj76thnam1iOOMOXebrmN5Pu86%2BArYYN1e16XY%3D&reserved=0,), the Authors contacted the Journal asking to write a correction.

The Journal’s own analysis confirmed the PubPeer findings, and the Journal then requested the Authors respond to the concerns. The authors replied claiming that there was adhesion of the slices after separation, resulting in unclear images, and that software was used to debug the background. The Editor-in-Chief assessed the case and found that the images could not be verified, and thus the stated results could not be confirmed, and decided to retract. The Authors agreed with this decision.
