Surgical sterilization by fimbriectomy - 06/10/17
Abstract |
This is a review of 200 cases of tubal sterilization by fimbriectomy for the 10 year period 1948–1958. These operations were performed by a single obstetric office at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Whittier, California. This procedure, first attempted in 1935, was gradually adopted by other Whitter area physicians after they had become dissatisfied with the failure of the Pomeroy and Madlener methods. Although over 1,000 cases have been performed in this area, no subsequent pregnancies have been reported. This technique has proved to be simple, safe, and certain. The probable reason for the encouraging results is discussed.
