This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor-in-Chief.

The Authors contacted the Journal, outlining concerns compressed or elongated Western Blot images caused by adjusting the aspect ratio and brightness, and asking to publish a corrigendum.

The Journal asked for a more comprehensive explanation regarding the data and their concerns. The authors replied at length, explaining that they re-ran the Western Blots, and the analysis of the new experiments was in some cases significantly different than what was in the original article.

A corrigendum was therefore not deemed appropriate, and due to the inability to replicate the findings of the article, the Editor-in-Chief decided to retract.
